Sourdough Project: Day One | | Dew of your Youth

In an attempt to explain to my children what hametz חמץ, seur שאור, and matza מצה is – we are making sourdough! This is day one of the project. To start we must make the starter/ mother / שאור!

and mixed them together

First we measured out 4 ounces of water

Then four ounces of flour

we poured them into a bowl

Yosef also helped

We got a mixture of flour and water – the consistency of a thick pancake batter

we covered it to sit for 24 hours.
